Sanur

Situated on the south-eastern coast, just 30minutes drive from Kuta, the charming fishing village of Sanur was one of Bali's first beach resorts, and still retains its Balinese character and village ambience.

Essentially still a sleepy fishing village, Sanur is great for romantic evening walks, where you'll discover a distinctive village community whilst browsing through the many shops and friendly markets - all without the frenetic pace of Kuta.

A broad range of accomodation is represented here from intimate boutique hotels to sprawling international resorts.

The beach is sheltered from the surf by a coral reef creating a lazy lagoon, perfect for children and families. This is an ideal spot for all sorts of water activities like snorkelling, swimming, windsurfing and outrigger sailing.

Popular with European visitors for many years, Sanur offers some great cosmopolitan restaurants and cafes, most of which are relatively inexpensive.

Whilst in Sanur, the Bali Experts suggest....

  • Stroll the boardwalk at sunrise or sunset and soak up the unique Sanur ambience
  • Take in a traditional Balinese cultural performance at a local restaurant or resort
  • Sail in a traditional prahu fishing boat along the fringes of the lagoon
